The Director of Finance reports to the City Manager and leads a team of professional staff. Under the leadership of the City Manager, the new Director will provide direction and management of the Finance Department, including payroll, purchasing and accounts payable. The Director will also oversee the Information Technology Department.
Primary responsibilities include providing recommendations to the City Manager and City Council; developing and implementing the strategic direction and policy for the department; developing, implementing and revising operational and financial policies and procedures; developing and managing the annual budget process; setting the tone, climate and vision for the department, ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities and directives; and ensuring the overall fiscal soundness of the community.
A qualified candidate will possess at least a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field and have a minimum of five years of finance experience. Strong candidates will possess significant financial reporting, budgeting and management experience with a clear understanding of the fiscal realities faced by local government organizations.
Salary to commensurate with education and experience.
