 Principal function, to perform administrative duties, indirect assistance to the Police Chief, functioning as second-in-command, assist in the supervision and direction of all City police functions. Position requires considerable judgment in interpretation of rules and regulations and the application of laws and ordinances. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Police Chief, but considerable latitude is granted for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative. This employee performs duties of the Police Chief in their absence
